On 6th September 2024 we had our 3rd field visit in Khatkar Kalan Village. We the B.A 2nd  Year, 1st Year & M.A 1st Year Students had visited in the field visit. Three of our respected faculty members had joined with us in the field visit. The time duration between LPU to Khatkar Kalan is 33 minutes.  Khatkar Kalan is one of the most charming village in Punjab India. It is situated just outside town in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district(recently named Nawanshahr earlier the part of the part of Jalandhar district). This village is famous for the famous Indian freedom fighter Bhagat Singh who fought against the British Ruler. Bhagat Singh was an Indian anti-colonial revolutionary, who participated in the mistaken murder of a junior British police officer in December 1928 in what was to be retaliation for the death of an Indian nationalist. Bhagat Singh was born in the village of Banga in the Lyallpur district of Punjab, British India on September 27, 1907. Bhagat was nine among her parents. The village is now in Pakistan. Bhagat Singh is known as Shaheed-e-Azam which translated to "The Great Martry" in English, because of his acts of bravery and sacrifice. His revolutionary activism are significant. They are: Killing of John Saunders, Killing of Channan Singh,  Escape From Lahore, Delhi Assembly bombing and arrest. His ideology of patriotism, secularism, and anti-imperialism remains relevant in the contemporary context. Bhagat Singh's ideal of social justice,  equality, and democratic government continue to influence social and political discourse in India. "Inquilab Zindabad"  is one of the most popular slogans of Bhagat Singh. He tried his best to bring social change. Bhagat Singh's life is an inspiration to all those who fight for justice and against oppression. In Khahtkar Kalan Village we visited to Bhagat Singh's ancestral house. There is a haveli which was built by Bhagat Singh's great-grandfather, Fateh Singh. Bhagat Singh's father moved to Faisalabad before his birth. There is a mural of Bhagat Singh and his parents in Khatkar Kalan. Outside of the ancestral house there is a sprawling lawn developed by the government, set a group of local residents. Among them was 71-year old Balwant Singh. There is also a library in the village. We also visited Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Museum. It is situated approx 40 km from Jalandhar on Nawanshahr -Banga Road. The museum is located just on the side of  main road. Outside the museum there is a great statue of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh. The museum opened in the 50th anniversary of Bhagat Singh. It was built in 2009 in the village at a cost of ₹168 million (US$2.0 million). The Khatkar Kalan tour was totally enchanting.
