Last 2nd February 2024 we had a study tour to Harike Pattan wetland Punjab. Harike Wetland also known as "Hari-ke-Pattan. Harike Pattan lake jointly downstream from the confluence of the Beas & Sutlej rivers. Harike barrage was construct to meet the irrigation and drinking needs of southern parts of Punjab and adjoining state of Rajasthan. It's nearest place is Amritsar. It is 60km far from Amritsar. Wetland is very essential thing for a country. It balance hydrological and ecological equity. Harike Pattan mainly situated in Taran Taran district and Ferozepur district Punjab India. It is a largest manmade wetland in northern India. Although it is India's second largest wetland but now it is famous for it's diversity. It's depth is 2 meters and surface area is 4,1000 hectares. It has also 33 islands. There are so many kinds of plants and flowers in Harike Pattan. They are Eichhornia crassipes, Azolla sp, lotus, Najas and Hydrilla and some wild flowers also. It is also famous for migratory birds. So many migratory birds comes every year. The water quality of Harike Lake is very good. It has fresh water. The water colour is nice. We are very happy to see that. The Harike wetland and bird sanctuary is a great place to unwind and connect with nature. With serene surroundings, abundant wildlife, and amazing scenery it attracts everyone. The sanctuary boasts rich biodiversity, with around 375 species of birds and several species of amphibians, turtles, reptiles, and mammals. Anybody can take a boat ride to explore the wetlands. We enjoyed lot there. I am so glad to visit there.
