LPU XPRESSIONS MEDIA FEST 2024


On 23th April there was held the biggest event in LPU. That was LPU XPRESSIONS MEDIA FEST 2024. On that event there was invited the prominent Indian lyricist and poet Javed Akhtar.  Javed Akhtar, the highly acclaimed award-winning writer from Bollywood, graced Lovely Professional University’s (LPU) media fest, ‘Xpressions-2024’, leaving an indelible impact on the attending students of journalism, film and television from over 25 esteemed Indian universities. The two-day event, organised by the School of Liberal and Creative Arts (Journalism, Film & Television) at LPU, aimed to provide a platform for students to showcase their talent and gain valuable insights from industry experts. During the interactive session, Javed Akhtar, known for his secular, liberal and progressive values, captivated the audience with his thought-provoking couplets on various social issues. He touched upon topics such as anti-communalism, social injustice, national integration, women’s rights, youth, religion, atheism and more. His words resonated deeply with the students encouraging them to think critically and embrace their role as agents of change. The LPU XPRESSIONS MEDIA FEST 2024 was truly magnificent. The students of journalism & mass communication will clearly know about the concept and nature of media.

Exploring in Rurka Kalan Village

 30th September was our 2nd field visit B.A Journalism & Mass Communication 2nd year & 1st year also M.A 1st year students. On that day we first reported in our department building. The faculty members had gave all the instructions of what we have to in the field visit. Our department arranged the university bus for our transportation. Three of our faculty members joined us with us in the field visit. There was a great fun in the bus while we were going to Rurka Kalan Village. The time duration from LPU to Rurka Kalan village is 33 minutes. Rurka Kalan is the very nice village in Punjab state.  Rurka Kalan  is a village in the  Tehsil   Phillaur ,  Jalandhar ,  Punjab , India.  Khurd and Kalan  Persian language word which means small and Big respectively when two villages have same name then it is distinguished as  Kalan  means Big and  Khurd  means Small with Village Name.  Harike Pattan Visit Last 2nd February 2024 we had a study tour to Harike Pattan wetland Punjab. Harike Wetland also known as "Hari-ke-Pattan. Harike Pattan lake jointly downstream from the confluence of the Beas & Sutlej rivers. Harike barrage was construct to meet the irrigation and drinking needs of southern parts of Punjab and adjoining state of Rajasthan. It's nearest place is Amritsar. It is 60km far from Amritsar. Wetland is very essential thing for a country. It balance hydrological and ecological equity. Harike Pattan mainly situated in Taran Taran district and Ferozepur district Punjab India. It is a largest manmade wetland in northern India. Although it is India's second largest wetland but now it is famous for it's diversity. It's depth is 2 meters and surface area is 4,1000 hectares.
