We Need Road Safety



We have to go to outside in everyday. But we don't know what will be happen with us. Yes I am talking about road accident, which is increasing day by day in Punjab. Study says in Punjab in 2022, 6122 road accidents caused 4688 deaths and 3370 injuries. The previous year 6097 road accidents caused 4516 deaths and 3034 injuries. But it until hasn't stopped. According to the report, accidents are bottle necks and other hindrance to the smooth flow of traffic. We know not only Punjab beside Chandigarh and Haryana also highly reported. I think there are so many causes of road accidents. In this fast developing country India the vehicle registration is going high at fast speed with the increase in population and with the increase in economy as well and there is no cap on bank loans from the government to decrease the vehicle registrations. The deep level investigation of black spots ( where extreme road accidents occur) in the region of 23 KM Jalandhar-Phagwara and other imperfections like unevenness, lack of rumble strips and grateful conditions in road superficials and deficiency of engineering in design parameters of public road highway from that we can interpret the reason of accidents. Although Punjab government has taken steps but peoples in this region not want to maintain rules at all. Moreover bikerers, three wheelers, auto and private cars also do rough driving. Some they drive from the opposite direction. We can remember the road accident in Nakoder in Jalandhar where 13 school childrens were died. Punjab govt. to file a response as to what steps taken to prevent all incidents in future. A division bench comprising chief justice A K SIKRI & justice R K Jain of the HC has taken cognizance on a letter written by Kamaldeep Singh of Ludhiana, demanding exemplary punishment in such cases & fixing accountability of people responsible for such mishaps. We hope also from Jalandhar District Court that they will handle this kind of road accident cases with great sincerity. Our earnest request to Punjab Govt & Punjab Road Authority that they will think sincerely road safety for people.

Exploring in Rurka Kalan Village

 30th September was our 2nd field visit B.A Journalism & Mass Communication 2nd year & 1st year also M.A 1st year students. On that day we first reported in our department building. The faculty members had gave all the instructions of what we have to in the field visit. Our department arranged the university bus for our transportation. Three of our faculty members joined us with us in the field visit. There was a great fun in the bus while we were going to Rurka Kalan Village. The time duration from LPU to Rurka Kalan village is 33 minutes. Harike Pattan Visit

 Harike Pattan Visit Last 2nd February 2024 we had a study tour to Harike Pattan wetland Punjab. Harike Wetland also known as "Hari-ke-Pattan. Harike Pattan lake jointly downstream from the confluence of the Beas & Sutlej rivers. Harike barrage was construct to meet the irrigation and drinking needs of southern parts of Punjab and adjoining state of Rajasthan. It's nearest place is Amritsar. It is 60km far from Amritsar. Wetland is very essential thing for a country. It balance hydrological and ecological equity. Harike Pattan mainly situated in Taran Taran district and Ferozepur district Punjab India. It is a largest manmade wetland in northern India. Although it is India's second largest wetland but now it is famous for it's diversity. It's depth is 2 meters and surface area is 4,1000 hectares.
