 24 January 2025 we had our first field visit of  the 4th semester. We the B.A 1st, 2nd, 3rd year & M.A 1st year students of Journalism & Mass Communication visited in the field visit. In the 4th semester our first field visit was in Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala Three of our respected faculty members joined with us in the field visit. We started for Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala  at 10:00am. The  Pushpa Gujral Science City was founded by Inder Kumar Gujral on 17 October 1997.    At a distance of 15 km from Jalandhar, it is spread across an area of 72 acres. Its motto is to help people, especially younger children, develop an interest in the working of the physical world around them.  In an era of encouraging learning through visual aids and experience, this project does exactly the same in the field of science and technology.   Indians studying and living in Canada will see some relief amid high living expenses as the Canadian government raised the Federal Minimum Wage Rate for those working in the private sector. Starting April 1, Canada has raised the minimum wage from 17.30 Canadian dollars to $17.75 per hour for those working in the federally regulated private sector. "The federal minimum wage brings stability and certainty to Canadian workers and businesses alike and helps reduce income inequality across the board. In a remarkable geological finding, researchers at The University of Texas at Austin have discovered that the underside of the North American continent is slowly dripping away in blobs of rock. This phenomenon, known as "cratonic thinning," is being attributed to the remnants of the Farallon Plate, a tectonic plate that has been sinking into the Earth's mantle for millions of years. The study,  published in Nature Geoscience , reveals that this process is currently underway beneath the Midwest region of the United States. Despite its localised nature, the effects of this dripping are felt across a broad area of the North American craton, which spans much of the US and Canada.   As China and India push to mend ties, strained for nearly half a decade, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said that "what happened in 2020 was not the way to address issues". The minister's remarks recalled the way China had unilaterally tried to change the status quo along the Line of Actual Control or LAC. Mr Jaishankar also acknowledged that India and China will continue to have issues in the "foreseeable future", but said that "there are ways of addressing them" without getting into a conflict.    The Chinese military  conducted large-scale drills around  Taiwan  on Tuesday in what it said was a “stern warning” to pro-independence forces on the Beijing-claimed island, as it called Taiwan’s president a “parasite.” The Taiwanese government condemned the exercises, in which Chinese army, navy, air and rocket forces closed in on waters to the north, south and east of Taiwan, according to  China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) .   Myanmar Earthquake Death Update:   The death toll in the deadly earthquake in Myanmar of 7.7 magnitude which hit nearly a week ago has risen past 3,000 on Thursday as more bodies were recovered by the search and rescue teams, the junta government said. In a statement by the military government, about 4,715 people have been injured and 341 people still remain missing after the  country faced one of its strongest earthquake in history  which resulted in destruction of several buildings and infrastructure. Myanmar’s second largest city, Mandalay was the epicenter of the 7.7 magnitude earthquake which struck last Friday and brought down thousands of buildings, blocked roads and destroyed bridges across several regions.   Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s aide on Monday warned that the country will have to procure nuclear weapons if attacked by the United States or its allies, following US President Donald Trump’s threat to bomb Iran. The development comes after Iran’s supreme leader Khamenei vowed to hit back if President Trump carried out bombing in Tehran, if the country doesn’t negotiate over its nuclear programme. Khamenei’s adviser Ali Larijani said, “We are not moving towards (nuclear) weapons, but if you do something wrong in the Iranian nuclear issue, you will force Iran to move towards that because it has to defend itself,” as quoted by  AFP  news agency. “Iran does not want to do this, but…(it) will have no choice,” Larijani further added.
